LCA 2010 Grand Award of Excellence

When the owners stumbled across this property, with it's views of Sugarloaf Mountain and surrounding beautiful farmland, they saw the potential in the lot and instantly fell in love with the property. Upon completion of the construction of the home, the owners then turned to the exterior, with hopes of making the property as inviting as the interior. With four young children of their own, along with nearly 40 nieces and nephews, creating child-friendly outdoor spaces which could accomodate large family get-togethers was imperative.
Six years later, the installed outdoor living spaces flawlessly complement the home and are used frequently by this extensive family. The series of spaces are located on the south side of the house, taking advantage of the view towards Sugarloaf Mountain. From the front of the home guests can access a natural patio of irregular bluestone, which features a koi pond and fire pit. The swimming pool beyond, with its automatic cover, offers ample area for sunbathing on the surrounding paver patio. An outdoor dining area was installed just outside of the game room and basement kitchen. The dining area has a wonderful sense of privacy and enclosure with the surrounding stone walls and overhead cedar pergola. Off the rear of the home, a Trex deck with iron railings and a lower paver patio was installed allowing for overflow from the adjacent family room and kitchen. A cascading waterfall is visible from the Trex deck and paver patio. Future projects include the pool house and outdoor kitchen.
